We’ve got a quick battleground analysis from the Encounter 1 tournament – now happening in our community Discord! With Round 1 out of the way and each player’s deck details out in public, we’re presenting a diversity report on the current event – along with some comparisons to the recent Omega Invitational.
With Encounter 1 taking place after the release of Wave 8: Waste|Lands, it was unknown what shape the meta would begin to take. Now that we have the full deck list in hand, it’s safe to say the high degree of competitive diversity has continued – with a “shiny new cards” factor in play. Though we have three Abominus decks in the field of 16, every other deck in the field has a unique archetype. This continues the precedent shown at the 2022 OI. 7 decks primarily draw from cards in the Hasbro era, with the rest favoring teams introduced from Wave 6 onward.
Encounter 1 continues the diversity shown in the 2022 OI.

Announcing Casual League Season Two! In the Transformers TCG Community, we invest deeply in scheduled events. You may have seen multiple tournaments announced on set days on the event calendar. However, we haven’t forgotten about spontaneous, casual games at our FLGS and kitchen tables.
To promote less competitive and more social gameplay, we’ve launched another season of Casual League. Behold, Season Two!
Basics of Casual Play
Those in public and private Transformers TCG Community Discord voice channels that play casual games can log their matches in the #casual-beta-results channel. Players can use the following command to log a match:
Remember that the number of games played is the most crucial statistic! Feel free to play jank and have fun with your fellow players without worrying too much about your win/loss record.
Do not log matches played in most scheduled events in #casual-beta-results (with the exception of Open Play Nights) – only casual games outside of most events may be logged. If you’re looking for players to play Casual League games with, why not announce it in the #looking-for-games channel?
And yes, beta testers – you can log your beta test games in #casual-beta-results. Just make sure you’re playing your games in a public or private voice channel on the Transformers TCG Community Discord.

Casual League Season Two lasts the duration of the regular portion of Waste|Lands Tournament Season Two – from the beginning of Encounter 1 to the end of Encounter 9.
League Incentives
We hope that the Casual League will spur many spontaneous and casual games – but the fact that it’s casual doesn’t mean there aren’t prizes!
In fact, there’s a whole championship to be earned for the player that plays the most games: The Casual Kup. Those that play the most games in Season Two and win the Casual Kup will get the opportunity to help design a character in a future release. Also, you can get a sweet trophy! In Season One, Hawkhammer captured it – will he repeat, or will a new player grasp the gold?
Additionally, the three players that play the most games in Season Two will be eligible to purchase three very tempting prizes for the low price of 100 shanix. These prizes will be revealed later this Season.
For everyone else, we have a more achievable incentive for you! Those who log at least 50 games in Casual League Season Two will be eligible to purchase a set of exclusive Casual League custom card sleeves for 100 shanix. Every 50 games logged in #casual-beta-results also earns the player 50 shanix.

Requirements
Want to play some games? Let’s get prepped! To participate in Tournament Season Two, you’ll need to appropriately ready yourself.
1. Download and print community cards
Tournament Season Two features Transformers TCG community cards. Therefore, you will need to download and print these cards in order to participate. Here’s a handy guide for printing Transformers TCG community sets if you need guidance.
2. Join the Transformers TCG Community Discord
The primary hub for Tournament Season Two play is the Transformers TCG Community Discord. Since all tournament play will occur in Discord, you will need to join the server.
3. Get set up for webcam-based play
You’ll need to be able to show your online opponent what’s on your gaming table – and a webcam is the primary method to achieve that. Beforehand, ensure your webcam and lighting are ideal before stepping into a match. You can use an empty Voice channel in the Discord to perform checks.
4. Register events via start.gg and teletraan1.net
Most events in Tournament Season Two will have their own registration link on start.gg. Each of these links will be announced on Transformers TCG Community social media a couple of weeks before the start of the event, as well as on the Transformers TCG Community Discord.
In addition to registration, the decklist for each participant is required to be registered at teletraan1.net for review at least a day before the start of each event. Each registrant should submit both their Discord handle as well as the link to their decklist via our Contact form (or by DMing [BF] billmoo).
5. Engage and play in our Discord
The primary channels for tournament play are #tournament-chat and #tournament-results. Pay attention to announcements, including when rounds begin. Players will be required to sync with their opponents and schedule a time to play in our Standard Match voice channels over the webcam.
When reporting your match score, the winner should use the #tournament-results channel using the following format:
Be sure to check the individual event details for the allowed cards and ban lists.
Encounter Tournament Format
The Encounter tournaments will be Swiss in format, ending with a Single Elimination bracket for all players in a top cut. The total number of Swiss rounds will be dependent on the number of registrants. Each match will be the best 2 out of 3 games.
The start.gg tournament listing sets pairings for each event. It will be up to each paired player to contact each other and schedule a time for their match. Try your best to complete your match within two days. If for some reason, you cannot make a game-time within two days’ time, you can concede the match or reach out to a Judge and the opposing player to see if alternate arrangements can be made.
Judges will be available during each event for rulings. The following Judges can make rulings in Transformers TCG Community events:

Judges will be using the Rules and FAQ to assist in rulings; keep this page handy to resolve issues. Our Judges are also responsible for the review of submitted decklists. Judges will reach out with feedback if a decklist is not approved for use.
Webcam Rules, Etiquette, and Tips
Do not cheat. All handling of cards should be done in view of the opposing player on webcam, including shuffling and drawing. Place your hand face-down on the table when it is not being viewed. Players caught cheating will be removed from the event. We have already banned cheaters in previous events.
Do not intentionally slow-play. If you have a complaint in this regard, note this to a Judge during a match.
Both players should play their matches within a 60-minute time limit. However, extensions of game time can occur with mutual agreement between players at the beginning of each match. Report your results promptly in the #tournament-results channel at the end of the match.
Avoid using proxies for cards from the core game. However, if you do use proxies, ensure that the cards are easily read from the opponent’s webcam by using high-quality photo prints. Do not use scribbled or drawn cards.
Use markers to track damage that are easy to read. Highly reflective damage trackers may be difficult to view over webcams.
Use patience when dealing with technical issues. Players are attending from across the globe, and problems are inevitable. Players can utilize the option to extend their game clocks to compensate for lost time, but disputes can be decided with the input of a Judge.
Tournament Season Two Scoring
Each player that fully participates in an Encounter event will earn points toward the full Season and its available prize pool.
A participant that plays at least half of their matches and has a legitimate reason for dropping out (as judged by organizers) earns 1 point.
A participant that plays from the beginning to the end of their matches earns an additional 2 points (for a total of 3).
A player making the top cut earns an additional point (for a total of 4).
The champion of the Encounter event earns an additional point (for a total of 5).
In addition, those that participate in casual Transformers TCG Community events (such as a Two Lwosers event) can earn points for participation using the following rules:
A participant that plays from the beginning to the end of each of their matches earns a point.
At the end of the regular Season, points will be tallied. Those that rate at the top will have selection priority from our Seasonal prize pool, with items not offered anywhere else in the community. The points leader will also be awarded the Tournament Season Two Online Kup during The 2023 Omega Invitational.

Constructed Play
The remainder of the rules for events in Tournament Season Two follows the structure of other events typical of Constructed Transformers TCG play. You can find the rules for Constructed Play at tf-rules.info.
Prize Support
Prizes for participation in Tournament Season Two come in two levels: per-event and seasonal. Accordingly, each event will have its own list of available incentives. Please see the registration links to see the prize pool available for each Encounter Tournament.
All beginning-to-end players in an Encounter event will earn at least 150 shanix. Those that make the top cut will earn 50 additional shanix. The victor of an Encounter event will earn 50 additional shanix.
Eventually, one person will be deemed the supreme player of Waste|Lands Tournament Season Two. That person will have the opportunity to select from a number of exquisite prizes, which will be announced later in the Season.
